Pasta in Tomato Cream Sauce - Chelsey J

8 oz penne or other tube pasta
1 (14.5 oz) can dice tomatoes, Italian style
1/2 c fresh basil or 1 tsp dried basil
3/4 c whipping cream
12 oz spicy Italian sausage
1/3 c grated parmesan cheese, grated


Cook pasta according to package directions.  Drain; return pasta to saucepan.  Cover and keep warm.  Meanwhile, cut the sausage into 1-inch pieces or crumble if using bulk.  In a large skillet cook sausage and sweet peppers over medium-high heat until sausage is browned.  Drain off fat. Cook tomatoes over medium--high heat for 5 minutes.  Reduce heat; add basil and cream.  Heat through.  Do not boil.  Toss with pasta and cheese; serve immediately.
