Caramel Brownies - Chelsey J

50 caramels
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 pkg German chocolate cake mix
¾ cup butter, melted
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Combine caramels and 1/3 cup of evaporated milk in top of double boiler. Cook and stir over hot water until caramels are melted. Combine dry cake mix with butter, remaining evaporated milk, and nuts in large bowl. Stir until dough holds together. Press ½ of dough into greased and floured 9x13 baking dish, reserving rest of dough for topping. Bake at 350° for 6 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over crust. Spread caramel over chocolate chips. Crumble reserved dough over caramel. Return to oven and bake 15-18 minutes longer. Cool slightly, then chill for at least 30 minutes.
